Kindle Scribe — Review
TLDR: Nifty, if expensive, gadget helps with focused reading
I’m a gadget hoarder, and I keep rebuying one gadget beyond my iDevices (another saga, maybe one day I’ll write about it): Amazon’s Kindle devices.
The first Kindle I tried was the old model with the round chicklet-style keyboard. I tried various Paperwhite models and even the Kindle Fire tablet. (I also reviewed a few iterations of the FireHD television thingies, but that’s a different story.)
I am a voracious reader, and the Kindle is a great reading device. Limiting the device to only reading books and magazines allows me to focus on the book or article I’m reading without interruptions from notifications. I’ve been reading on my iPhone lately, and pings from social media, Discord, and email will always interrupt me.
Reading is a positive energy activity for me. Reading in my niche helps inspire me, and reading outside of my niche genres keeps me balanced. Focused reading without distractions keeps other thoughts from cluttering my mind, which is why I read — escape and quieter mind.
